New Direction Baptist Beginnings

The New Direction Baptist Church was officially organized on July 24, 1973 under the leadership of Founder-Pastor James Wilkerson. Pastor Wilkerson was very instrumental in Community Outreach and because of his efforts many souls were Saved. Under his leadership many auxiliaries were started and they are still very active and effective even today. Pastor Wilkerson made many sacrifices not just for New Direction, but for Kingdom Building in general. The Deacons were appointed by Pastor Wilkerson and have worked without complaint during the establishing implementation and the furtherance for the Ministry. Pastor Wilkerson served faithfully for 40 years until he was called from labor to reward. Pastor Wilkerson passed away October 26, 2013. The New Direction Church Family remained faithful to the lessons that Pastor Wilkerson had instilled in them and prayed that God would again bless New Direction with a Pastor that would continue the legacy and lead the New Direction as God leads Him. On July 11, 2014 God Blessed New Direction to elect Rev. Julius McDade Sr., as their 2nd Pastor. Pastor McDade has embraced the faithfulness of the members, their commitment to the ministry, and their loyalty to the progress of Kingdom Building. New Direction is humbled to welcome an opportunity to be apart of Kingdom Building assignments at New Direction, in the community, and throughout the nation. Pastor McDades' passion is that we Exemplify Godly Love in ALL that we do and we look forward to what God is going to do in and throughout the ministry of New Direction.
